A new ‘hype’ culture has taken over the streets of our dynamic country. The new trend of streetwear is growing tremendously in India and has become ubiquitous among its youth. The capricious youth of our country have embraced this new style; perhaps not only for its congenial look but also for its promise of extreme comfort that assuages the hecticness of the day-to-day. Here, we give you a sneak peek into our very own indigenous streetwear brands.
#1- Jaywalking
The brand was founded by Jay Jajal in 2019, just before covid. The brand is raw, it's bold, and radiates energy. All its designs are hand drawn by jay and unique in their own way. The brand also believes in gender neutrality and promotes body positivity.
It has a store in New Delhi and two stores and an art gallery in Mumbai. At the gallery, ‘one of one' pieces are designed and developed. Jaywalking is also present online “sometimes”, to maintain brand exclusivity and keep the hype, the brand shuts its website and is operational only at specific hours on some days.
Over the past two years, the brand has experienced tremendous growth in its sales and brand image. Jaywalking has become a must-have for all streetwear enthusiasts. The brand is age versatile and within the range of 4000- 8000 rupees, broadening its target market to a great extent.
Some of its iconic pieces are ‘The Scholarship series and The boxy utility pants.’

Their designs are Chic and loud, speaking for themselves. They are available online, they also put up stores at exclusive pop-ups, and have a store in Gurugram which is phenomenally designed and implemented. More than the products they concentrate on creating experiences. Their hat designs are very uniquely designed and developed.
Some of its best pieces are ‘The pyroclastic slip dress’ by almost gods is a treat to watch and wear!
#3 - Sixfivesix street
The brand is relatively new to the industry and it has an online store only. Its designs are inspired by everyday problems faced by Gen Z, their target audience is thus determined by their designs. Their chosen form of expression draws influence from ideas, music, language, and even society. This brand is comparatively affordable and its product quality and reliability are commendable. Their designs drop on their website monthly, thus offering variety and assurance to keep up with the trends.
Some of my personal favorites from the brand are ‘The world tour T-shirt and ‘The purple denim baggy jeans '.
#4 - Bluorng
Bluorng is a Delhi-based brand that has experienced huge growth in the past seven-eight months. It has an online store, a store in New Delhi, and a store in Mumbai on its way. Their brand designs can be summed up as minimalistic statement pieces. Also, their sizing starts from XXS while all other brands start at xs, this has helped them widen their target audience immensely. All their T-shirts are uniformly priced at 3500 rupees which makes them comparatively affordable. Their T-shirts are 220- 280 gsm, which makes their quality undoubtedly great.
#5 - ADK by Avishi Dayal Kalra
It is a Delhi-based brand that speaks for itself. It is different and stands- out. It is for people who are unapologetic and unique. The brand is often spotted on celebrities shooting for magazine covers.
